This annual Fraternity-wide event takes place in March and unites Pi Phi's membership in an effort to advance literacy. Chapters and clubs raise funds and/or books through service events that benefit their communities.
In 2009, Pi Phi again will partner with First Book® for the "Make Your Mark for Literacy" campaign. The goal is to donate another 50,000 books. Alumnae organizations, collegiate chapters and their communities can help us achieve this goal by decorating bookplates and sending them back to Headquarters. A Fraternity Day of Service tool kit, which includes the blank bookplates, will arrive in the mail in the spring.
For every bookplate Headquarters recieves, one child will receive a brand-new book from First Book.

SO excited to see other Pi Phis leveraging the power and ease of blogging for communicating all across the country :-)

Literacy is a great cause, but we must remember our legacy as Pi Phi's who have been preserving the literacy of the arts and crafts through our Philanthropy of almost 100 years in Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. No other Greek organization has such a lofty project that has changed so many lives, not just in the mountains, but across the country! Send your support by comments and contributions. Please support Arrormont. All Pi Phi's should be very proud to own such a wonderful school that not only supports literacy, but arts and crafts. Marty Parish Ligon
Thanks for your comments ladies. Although this post is Pi Phis literacy initiatives please know that all of the alumnae clubs in our region support arrowmont through monetary donations.
