Social Networking

What is social networking? No need to google ... here's the description from wiki -

A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social network services are webbased and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as email and instant message services.

Social networking has encouraged new ways to communicate and share information. Social networking websites are being used regularly by millions of people.

Popular social networking services include Facebook, MySpace, twitter, and LinkedIn.

Pi Beta Phi has jumped into the social networking pool with creation of e-sisters. This interactive online community is exclusively designed for members of Pi Beta Phi.

You can also follow Pi Beta Phi Headquarters on twitter and several clubs have a spot on facebook.

Is your club using social networking to reach out to alumnae membership? If so, share your story with us in the comments section.

Dear Ring Ching,
The Louisville Alumnae Club has a group on Facebook under "Louisville Pi Beta Phi Alumnae". We have used the group to post events and to spread the word about what we are doing. We are new to Facebook and have 75 group members, but it has been growing quickly since our website launched. We plan to utilize Facebook more and hopefully do the same with eSisters. If anyone has advice, please give us a buzz!
